Our Premier Whisky Smugglers’ Tour

The tour is a full day experience and includes Pick Up/Drop Off from your local hotel/residence in our air conditioned go anywhere Land Rover Safari vehicle, the services of an experienced local Scottish driver/guide, visits to exclusive historical sites, tutored whisky tasting in an authentic hillside bothy, light lunch at a local beauty spot followed by a visit to The Glenlivet Distillery for a truly immersive experience which delves into both production and history of the brand. A guided tasting of The Glenlivet core range of 12, 15 and 18 year old malts ends the day. We will then return you, hopefully in a mellow and chilled mood, to your accommodation.*

LIVET ILLICIT

This tour is an afternoon experience and includes pick up/drop off from your local hotel/residence in our air conditioned classic ‘go anywhere’ Land Rover Safari vehicle. Our local guides have exclusive access to several historical whisky smuggling sites including a visit to a secret illicit still location in the Glenlivet hills where you will be sworn to secrecy whilst drinking a quality Glenlivet malt. We end the afternoon in our authentic, candle lit, hillside bothy listening to tales of illicit whisky distilling and smuggling from a bygone age whilst savouring drams from The Glenlivet core range.

LIVET ON THE EDGE
An 8 Wheel Drive Off Road Adventure

Our guide will drive our unstoppable 8 wheel drive Argocat through glorious heather moorland ‘on the edge’ to the summit of Carn Ghrantaich where 360 degree panoramas abound.

SHANKS PONY
Whisky Themed Walking Tour

Shanks Pony is a guided walking tour led by Charlie Ironside around George Smith Smugglers trails in Glenlivet . We commence at The Glenlivet Distillery, visiting 16^th Century Blairfindy Castle, a fine example of a fortified tower house. We progress to Josie’s Well, the underground water source of The Glenlivet and then onto Peat Reek Bothy, our hillside Bothy/shelter housing whisky smuggling artefacts where we stop for a complimentary wee dram. We continue across the heather to the site of the original Glenlivet Distillery build 1824 at Upper Drumin. We then follow the Smugglers Trail across the hill to pass Minmore House, formerly a Smith family residence before our return to The Glenlivet . This is a beautiful walk with some inclines amidst stunning scenery and wildlife.

INSIDE SPEYSIDE

Inside Speyside is a full day experience and includes Pick Up/Drop Off from your local hotel/residence in our air conditioned go anywhere Land Rover Defender Station Wagon, services of an experienced Scottish driver/guide with intimate knowledge of Speyside, visits to historical sites including the world famous Telford Bridge over the Spey, and wild and foreboding Auchendoun Castle (bring your Camera). A light lunch will be served at a local beauty spot. The day ends with either a guided tour of Aberlour Distillery or Speyside Cooperage, depending on availability. During the tour we will pass many of the world famous distilleries associated with this region and our driver/guide will explain their history and recent expansion due to the boom in whisky sales in the past decade.
