Argocat tours and picnics speyside whisky scotland

ABOUT THE TOUR:

A unique whisky tasting event.
Departing Aberlour train station at 10.00 am

THE ROUTE
The Strathspey Rail Line opened in 1863 to serve the local distilleries but due to improved road access the rail line closed in the 1970’s and was incorporated into the Speyside Way mid 1980’s. No vehicular access has been allowed since then unless authorised by the local Council.

THE DRAMS
We endeavour to source unusual, varied and aged malt whiskies, mostly Speyside in origin, for our clients to taste.

THE BARS
All our ‘stops’ have been specially selected for their quality and ambience to offer you the real Speyside experience. Meet at The Square in Aberlour at 1000 hrs where the owner/operator of our Tour Company Charlie Ironside will take you to the nearby Mash Tun Whisky Bar where we start the day with breakfast of porridge laced with Drambuie (Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Liqueur).

After breakfast we leave the Mash Tun and travel in ‘The Monarch O’ the Glen’, our Argocat which has comfortable seating for five passengers under a full canopy that protects from the elements. We follow the route of the old Strathspey Rail Line shadowing the banks of the River Spey taking in local history, scenery, wildlife and points of interest.

Our first port of call is at The Highlander Inn, a multi award winning village hotel with an extremely well stocked Whisky Bar, a fantastic atmosphere and enthusiastic owner who is passionate about whisky.

Having had our first dram, we move on to The Fiddichside Inn situated on the banks of the River Fiddich. This historic inn is one of the most traditional bars in the Highlands and is a well loved haunt of local fishers. A real step back in time!

We then return to Craigellachie to The Quaich Whisky Bar situated within the Craigellachie Hotel which offers a spectacular display of whiskies in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
